WLU Predicts Clinton nomination; Georgia to go for Obama

In its centennial year, the 2008 Washington and Lee University Mock Convention has predicted that Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton of New York will ultimately win the Democratic nomination for President.

Beginning in 1908, students at the Lexington, Virginia college have gathered to predict the presidential nominee of the party out of power. They're predictions have been correct a total of 18 times out of the past 23 presidential elections, including a streak of correctly predicting the presidential nominee every year since 1948 with only one miss.

Beau Allen, the Chair of the Georgia delegation, said, "I put Georgia having 54 delegates for Obama and 49 for Clinton. Obama's win tonight in SC should give him a boost in Georgia since he won by such a large margin, and I think that he will take Georgia, but that Clinton will end up getting the nomination."

More than 90 percent of the student body is involved in running the convention. They spend over two years planning, researching and organizing the quadrennial event, which has consistently featured prominent political figures and received national media attention.
